Best Sea Fishing Uses for a Dinsmores In-Line Float
Bass Fishing
- Fish a live sandeel, ragworm, lugworm or mackerel strip beneath the float.
- Excellent around rocky shores, harbour walls and estuaries where bass patrol close to the surface.
Garfish Fishing
- One of the best ways to target garfish.
- Suspend small strips of mackerel or ragworm 1–2 metres below the float.
- The float keeps the bait at the perfect depth and the bite indication is very visual.
Mackerel on Float Gear
- Fish tiny strips of bait or feathers under the float when mackerel are feeding close to the surface.
- Particularly effective around piers and harbours.
Pollack from the Rocks
- Drift a live sandeel or soft plastic beneath the float alongside kelp beds and rocky gullies.
- Allows the bait to move naturally with the tide.
Advantages of the In-Line Design
✅ Less tangling than traditional sea floats
✅ Excellent casting distance
✅ The line runs through the centre of the float for better balance
✅ Very sensitive bite indication
✅ Can be fished fixed or sliding for greater depths
✅ Ideal in calm to moderate sea conditions
Typical Sea Float Setup
- Main line: 15–20lb mono or braid
- Float stop (if fishing sliding)
- Dinsmores In-Line Float
- Small bead
- Swivel
- 2–4ft fluorocarbon trace
- Hook size 1 to 2/0 depending on bait and species
