Astute Dongle Pulley Rigs

Astute Saltwater Pulley Dongle Rig – 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 & 8/0

Tied for us by Tony of The Arbroath Rig Company

The Astute Saltwater Pulley Dongle Rig combines a single-hook pulley arrangement with a braided bait dongle, giving shore anglers an alternative way to present their bait.

Working on a similar principle to a carp hair rig, the dongle carries the bait below the hook, leaving the hook point exposed. The knotted braid provides a section around which to secure your bait with bait elastic, while the ring at the end connects to the bait clip for casting.

The pulley arrangement helps raise the lead clear of the seabed when retrieving a hooked fish, reducing the chance of the weight catching among rocks and weed. Clear monofilament, swivels, beads and a red release clip complete the setup.

Available in four hook sizes, these rigs offer options for different bait sizes and shore fishing conditions. The 4/0, 5/0 and 6/0 versions use a 70lb rig body and 50lb snood, while the larger 8/0 version steps up to an 80lb body and 60lb snood.
